Pastor Jeanette Jordan
Pastor Jeanette B. Jordan is the founder of Dementia Dignified Academy, an organization dedicated to providing specialized training for caregivers, care partners, clinicians, and the community at large. Pastor Jeanette Jordan holds several certifications, including an M.Div. (Master of Divinity), CLC (Certified Life Coach), DCS (Dementia Connection Specialist), and DCST (Dementia Connection Specialist Certified Trainer). She established Dementia Dignified Academy in honor of Dr. Jordan, who completed his journey with Alzheimer’s, to address the unique needs of those living with Alzheimer’s and various types of dementias. The academy offers data-supported training modules that teach caregivers how to provide professional, respectful, patient, creative, loving, and effective care. Its mission is to shift the care culture from merely providing care to caring with compassion.

Dr. Fayron Epps
Dr. Epps is an Associate Professor at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. She joined the faculty in August of 2019 and brings over 20 years of nursing experience in her role. She completed her doctoral degree in Nursing from Southern University and A&M College. Her research focuses on promoting the quality of life for families affected by dementia through research, education, and service. Dr. Epps also serves as the Director of Community & Research at Emory University. Additionally, Dr. Epps is the founder of the only nurse-led dementia-friendly congregation program, called Alter. Through Alter, she partners with African American faith communities to provide tools and resources for supporting families facing dementia.

Carla Preyer
Carla Preyer is a proud native of Indianapolis, Indiana, now rooted in Sacramento, California. A licensed hairdresser and salon owner for over 40 years, Carla’s hands have not only styled hair but also held space for healing, listening, and transformation.
After stepping away from her salon to care for her beloved husband through an eight-year journey with Lewy Body Dementia, Carla emerged with a new mission: to advocate for caregiver wellness, especially for Women of Color. Her lived experience and passionate voice helped influence the passage of California’s AB 2047, a bill aimed at improving early cognitive screening and support for families navigating dementia.
Today, Carla speaks, teaches, and uplifts others through her platform:
“From the Salon Chair to Self-Care” a movement that empowers caregivers to honor their own healing, rest, and resilience while navigating life after caregiving.

Dr. Jennifer Stelter
Dr. Jennifer Stelter, also known as the Oil Doctor, is a Clinical Psychologist and a renowned dementia expert. With 20 years of experience in the healthcare field and over a decade in the senior living industry, she specializes in dementia care. Dr. Stelter holds certifications as a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and a Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT). Her dedication to non-pharmacological tools and innovative dementia care techniques led her to create the Dementia Connection Model. As the CEO of NeuroEssence, LLC at the Dementia Connection Institute, she continues to empower caregivers and professionals in their vital work.

Lori La Bey
Lori La Bey is the founder of Alzheimer's Speaks, an influential platform in the field of dementia care. Her mission is to shift society's negative perceptions of dementia and caregiving, emphasizing the gifts wrapped in every stage of life. Lori connects people to best practices, products, services, tools, and resources, advocating for improved dementia care worldwide. She has been recognized by Oprah, Maria Shriver, AARP MN, and the National Institute for Dementia Education for her cutting-edge approach. Through her work, Lori has made an international impact, empowering families and professionals alike.

The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Since its founding in 1980, the Association has worked tirelessly to advance scientific understanding of dementia, provide critical resources to families and caregivers, and advocate for public policies that improve the lives of those affected. With a presence across the United States, it offers a 24/7 Helpline, educational programs, and support groups to help individuals navigate the challenges of Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
As a committed community partner, the Alzheimer’s Association collaborates with local organizations, health systems, and businesses to expand access to care and promote brain health. Darthula Young
Darthula Young, a distinguished leader and visionary, is the driving force behind Rooted in Dignity. Holding a BA from Northeastern Illinois University and an MBA from Dominican University, she brings a wealth of expertise to her role.
Her history includes a robust background in the private sector. Ms. Young once served as a Regional Vice President at Lockheed Martin IMS and as Vice President at Maximus Inc. Her strategic acumen and leadership skills left an indelible mark on the organizations she was once a part of.
Beyond her corporate achievements, Darthula is a certified End-of-Life Coach and Doula. In this role, she guides clients and their families through the challenging journey of impending death, offering unwavering emotional and spiritual support. Her commitment is to enable individuals to embrace their final moments with dignity and tranquility.
Now, as the founder of Rooted in Dignity, Darthula is dedicated to further extending her compassionate approach to end-of-life care through impactful initiatives and services offered by the organization.

Penny (Tillman) Hill
Penny (Tillman) Hill is a seasoned community relations strategist with over 15 years of
experience in government, marketing, and executive management. As the Director of Strategic
Partnerships and Community Engagement for the Center for Better Aging, she leads initiatives to
foster strategic collaborations, advance organizational goals, and strengthen community
relationships.
Previously, Penny served as Chief of Staff and Director of Administrative Operations at
Complete Care Management Partners, streamlining operations and human resources. At
NextLevel Health, she led community relations and partnership efforts as Senior Manager of
Community Relations. Earlier, she served as Chief of Staff for an Illinois House of
Representatives member.
Renowned for her organizational skills, strategic communication, and event planning expertise,
Penny has successfully managed initiatives for nonprofits, corporations, and government entities,
bridging diverse communities and fostering teamwork. She holds a Master of Public
Administration in nonprofit management from Roosevelt University and a bachelor’s in
communication management from Northern Illinois University.
